Roles should be created for existing employees who are responsible for approving, counter-signing and/or taking action on items completed by newly hired employees.
Roles should be assigned to existing employees who are responsible for taking action on tasks completed by new hires during the onboarding process. While you may create any kind of Role that is appropriate for your organization’s workflow, we commonly see clients create Roles such as: countersigner, Form I-9 approver, equipment provisioner, payroll processor and SaaS provisioner.
In the case of each of the above Roles, an individual would be charged with either approving, signing, setting up or ordering something once a new hire has completed a certain task in OnboardCentric.
We designed OnboardCentric’s Roles to be flexible. For example, many existing users may hold the same Role, and a single user may be assigned more than one Role. FlexFields determine which new hire tasks are assigned to which Role when there is more than one person in a single kind of Role.
It’s easy to quickly identify and reassign a Role to another employee temporarily or permanently as well. This functionality comes in handy in the case of maternity leaves, vacation, short-term disability and turnover.
