Affirmative Action Planning
Affirmative action planning describes the process taken by U.S. federal contractors and subcontractors to proactively recruit qualified minorities, women, disabled individuals and covered veterans; as well as, to advance their careers.
Affirmative action reporting must be filed and updated on an annual basis, and outlines outreach efforts, training and other actions intended to promote diversity and inclusion. This reporting is required for federal contractors to remain compliant and eligible for future government contracts. In broadest terms, these types of organizations are required to keep track of how many applicants have applied for each individual position, the race/gender/ethnicity of each applicant willing to volunteer this information, and the ultimate disposition of each applicant.
